Dead by Daylight Lunar Event Begins Tomorrow

The popularity of Dead by Daylight is still strong, and this year’s Lunar event, which is set to begin tomorrow, brings new content to the game.

Releasing in 2016, Dead by Daylight has seen an increase in popularity, with its roster of original creations as well as characters lifted from famous horror franchises. Behavior Interactive’s game is popular among streamers, as well, with numerous big names surviving with others or stalking players as one of the many killers. The studio is also keen to keep things rolling, with regular updates and events, and it looks as though this year’s Lunar event is due to kick off this week.

According to a tweet from the developer a few days ago, Dead by Daylight will be rolling out “Lurking Stripes” from tomorrow, with the event running through until February 8. There doesn’t seem to be any information about exactly when it will start, but an article from HITC believes it’s due to begin at 8am PT, 11am ET, and 4pm GMT. There’s also been some leaks about what the event will feature, which may include red envelopes spawning in maps which could provide rewards, including character skins.

It’s possible, though it hasn’t been confirmed, that the new update will also feature firecrackers, likely in celebration of the upcoming Lunar New Year which has become popular among the gaming community. At the time of writing, it doesn’t appear that the developer has shared any details about exactly what will be featured for the event, so the information provided is best taken lightly. However, the leak does come from a source which is generally known to be pretty accurate when it comes to the game, but readers are still advised to take it with a pinch of salt.

Dead by Daylight is updated frequently with new chapters, such as last year’s “Portrait of a Murder” patch, as well as the very recent chapter 22.5 update, which brought with it the usual tweaks and improvements to the game. However, one other thing that 22.5 also brought with it was a change to one of the killer’s features.

There was some controversy recently in which people were using the DBD Leatherface masks to harass other players. Given this, Behavior Interactive made the decision to remove this feature with the last update. Outside of that, the game still continues to pull in lots of players on a regular basis. Its popularity with the streaming community probably helps keep it in the limelight, and while the game and studio has had some backlash in the past, the “Lurking Stripes” Lunar event shows that it’s still business as usual for the studio.

Dead by Daylight is available for Mobile, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
