Cyberpunk 2077 DLC Expansion Reveal Could Be Coming Soon

In late 2020, Cyberpunk 2077 was released to a mountain of controversy surrounding its performance issues and bugs on consoles. As a result, all DLC plans for the game were put on hold as CD Projekt Red began the extensive process of fixing the game. Now, at long last, it appears that the company might be gearing up to officially reveal a new DLC expansion for Cyberpunk 2077.

Earlier this year, plot details for Cyberpunk 2077 DLC were leaked, but it was not made clear when it would be released. Earlier this month, however, Cyberpunk 2077‘s official Twitter account may have dropped a pretty big hint on the matter. Specifically, it replied to German YouTuber Varion, playfully asking when DLC will be coming CD Projekt Red’s latest game. With Gamescom rapidly approaching, this Tweet may very well have been teasing an announcement at the upcoming convention.

Around the same time the DLC leak occurred, CD Projekt Red revealed that Cyberpunk 2077‘s DLC marketing would begin at some point in 2022. Over the past year and a half, the company has been fixing the game’s numerous issues through various updates in an effort to restore its reputation. The latest patch for the game was the 1.52 update, but a 1.6 patch was also confirmed to be in the works. Once the company finally wraps up work on the game, it will begin development on The Witcher 4 in earnest. If this Tweet is anything to go on, however, it appears that the company is ready to add more content to the controversial game.

At the time of its release, Cyberpunk 2077 was notorious for its bugs. The list of glitches that players encountered were so numerous that it cannot be fully appraised or cataloged. Soon after the game was released, CD Projekt Red reveled a roadmap to fixing Cyberpunk 2077‘s numerous issues. As mentioned above, the game has been patched several times since its release, though whether the game is worth playing in its current state is up to the individual. At this point, however, it’s not entirely clear if any of this will be enough to restore the public’s trust in the company.

In late 2019/early 2020, CD Projekt Red’s stock prices skyrocketed thanks to a new surge of The Witcher game sales due to the release of the Netflix show of the same name. Unfortunately, the next year, the stock prices dropped roughly 75% due Cyberpunk 2077‘s botched launch, and the long term consequences of this mistake remain to be seen. Whether new Cyberpunk 2077 DLC is announced at Gamescom or not, it is clear that the company will have an uphill battle for some time.

Cyberpunk 2077 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
