Gulliver isn’t always the most welcome sight on players’ islands in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. While players are usually the ones irritated by Gulliver’s arrival, one player’s villager Dom took the opportunity to tease the perpetually shipwrecked bird.
Gulliver arrives on players’ islands in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, lost and unable to call for help due to his communicator being broken and scattered into bits. Players who retrieve the pieces will eventually be rewarded, but as it’s a repeated occurrence and the reward is fairly random, not everyone considers finding Gulliver on their beach to be a positive surprise.
It seems that Redditor blek_blek was ready for the bird’s next arrival, filming a brief video of Gulliver still passed out on the beach. A cosmos shower was placed directly over him, which is where Dom decides to take the opportunity to have a little fun. Approaching Gulliver on the shore, Dom steps up to the shower and turns it on, drenching Gulliver – who is still half-submerged, anyway.
New Horizons’ new villager Dom seems all too pleased with himself for this, immediately breaking into a beaming smile as Gulliver gets doused. After a moment he shuts it off, stares at the still-unmoving Gulliver, and then wanders away. Fans point out that he looks disappointed that his efforts were in vain, as his smile vanishes.
Of course, Gulliver will only respond at this point if the player talks to him first, so it’s all just a bit of fun on blek_blek’s part, and viewers are just playing along. While the player was likely planning to use the shower on Gulliver anyway, they instead got to witness something even more fun. Seeing one of the most loved villagers in Animal Crossing: New Horizons pop in to do it must have been a delight for them, and with over 21,000 points attributed to the post, it seems other players are greatly amused, as well.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons has a fairly randomized system for determining which guest players will see on their island at any given time, which is part of why spotting Gulliver doesn’t always please players. His arrival means that some of the other rotating NPCs can’t visit that day. However, as much of Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ focus revolves around finding or learning new recipes and crafting creations, there’s always a chance that helping Gulliver will lead to adding something great to the player’s home or island decorations.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is out now for Nintendo Switch.
