Co-Op Sci-Fi Simulation Game Space for Sale Revealed With Gameplay Trailer

Friday’s THQ Nordic Digital Showcase 2022 event was packed full of new game announcements. One of the most interesting and surprising reveals is for the co-op sci-fi property development simulator Space for Sale. THQ Nordic dropped a short trailer for Space for Sale, followed by launching the game’s Steam profile, website, and Discord community, offering up a robust first look at what could be a game worth watching going forward. THQ Nordic clearly has high hopes for it.

As its name implies, Space for Sale is a sci-fi sim game where players develop properties on alien planets in an effort to sell them for profit. Played from an isometric perspective, players control a tiny spaceman. They take their spaceman to procedurally-generated landscapes, where they’ll collect resources and build increasingly complex (and valuable) buildings and estates. Aliens are very demanding, after all. Satisfying alien demands, dealing with harsh landscapes, and efficiently spending cash are just a few challenges players will face in Space for Sale.

There is, of course, one other major feature that Space for Sale players will want to make the most of. Space for Sale will have full support for drop-in/drop-out cooperative multiplayer with up to two players. It’s unclear exactly how co-op will work, but players will assumedly be able to gather resources and build independently. How selling works and who profits from property sales will have to be explored in future Space for Sale reveals.

While not much else about Space for Sale has been announced yet, some assumptions can be made based on the knowledge of the game’s developer. Mirage Game Studios is based out of Karlstad, Sweden. Mirage Game Studios’ previous project was Little Big Workshop, another sim game where players manage a factory including its workers, workstations, and products. It’s easy to see how that experience will help inform Space for Sale‘s design, though in a more accessible style of sim experience.

It’s also worth noting that Mirage Game Studios has always been a part of THQ Nordic since the studio’s formation in 2016; it’s not a third-party studio working with THQ Nordic. It did, however, publish Little Big Workshop under the HandyGames publishing label, while Space for Sale will be under THQ Nordic itself. That perhaps implies an additional level of conflict.

For the time being, Space for Sale does not have an announced release date. As such, it could be a while yet before more information is shared about the sci-fo co-op game. There are certainly plenty of other games to try out in the time between, with THQ Nordic having 43 games currently in development. Space for Sale may be one worth watching, though.

Space for Sale is in development for PC.
