There are many memorable characters from cartoon sitcom Family Guy, with Cleveland Brown commemorated in multiple ways since its release, including as an absurdly expensive “Skylander” on eBay. Because of the success of Family Guy and The Cleveland Show, the character has appeared in all sorts of wacky situations, but being a Skylanders hero could be his strangest role yet.
A Reddit user recently shared a screenshot from eBay showing what looks like a reasonably well-made Cleveland Brown Skylander that’s advertised as working with the game’s portal. When it was released by Activision back in 2011, Skylanders became a sensation that kicked off the toys-to-life genre which was adopted by Nintendo with a variety of titles, Disney Infinity, Lego Dimensions, Starlink: Battle for Atlas, and more. Though the genre of games has fallen by the wayside this generation, some fans maintain hope for a comeback, with some customizing their own figures like this Cleveland Brown one.
Reddit user Assassinsige01 has asked the Skylanders community if they should purchase a Cleveland Brown figure that they found on eBay that seemingly works with the Spyro spin-off game. Sharing a screenshot that reveals the ridiculous $3,000 price tag of the Family Guy character turned Skylander, with an image above it showing the figure standing atop the Skylanders portal. The base of the Cleveland Brown Skylander features what appears to be a chip from Skylanders Giants which infers that he’s a member of the second set if the eBay toy is properly transformed once placed on the portal.
The Cleveland Brown Skylander can be identified as part of the Giant series because of the orange color that connects it to the portal, with green reflecting the original batch of figures, blue being for Swap Force, and Red signifying Trap Team toys. Based on the basic appearance of the Cleveland Brown Skylander, the toy on top may have just been taken from an existing lineup of Family Guy merchandise rather than being an entirely unique creation. Given the minimalist nature of this Skylander, fans of the Spyro spin-off may have a hard time justifying the $3,000 cost even if they’re attempting to complete their collections.
Because it would take extensive programming knowledge and likely some adjustments to the Toys For Bob game itself rather than just the Skylander, the Cleveland Brown figure likely summons an existing Skylanders hero. Based on its extreme asking price, it’s unlikely that any Skylanders players will drop $3,000 for the Cleveland Brown toy despite Assassinsige01 teasing that they were considering the purchase.
