Call of Duty: Warzone 2 Leak Teases Map Layout and Swimming Mechanic

A new post from a reputable insider provides Call of Duty: Warzone fans with details on the sequel’s map and reveals a swimming mechanic.

Call of Duty: Warzone fans have received confirmation that a sequel will be releasing alongside Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 later this year. Beyond that, though, any details on the new Call of Duty: Warzone remain unofficial, with fans needing to rely entirely on leaks.

Fortunately, there have been some incredibly interesting leaks about Call of Duty: Warzone 2. The game will supposedly feature a map resembling Blackout, which could be comprised of iconic locations from the original Modern Warfare trilogy. Armor will supposedly resemble the Blackout system as well, with an interrogation feature also being suggested through leaks. Pro Perks have been rumored as well, and with this information mentioned by Tom Henderson, fans have reason to believe it may be true.

Though all rumors should be taken with a grain of salt, Henderson has proven correct on several occasions, correctly predicting Call of Duty and Battlefield features while leaking games like Quantic Dream’s Star Wars: Eclipse. The latest teasers from Henderson come courtesy of an image posted on his Twitter account, with said image featuring a look at the upcoming Call of Duty: Warzone 2 map. Henderson also teases swimming, which would be a logical addition.

Based on the drawing from Henderson (which sits beside a Call of Duty: Vanguard that is disc being used as a drink coaster), the top right of the map will be comprised of a modern day city. This should be particularly exciting for those that loved Verdansk and wish that it would return. To the left of this city, a quarry will supposedly be seen, with the center of the map comprised of caves. While there will surely be many points of interest within these areas, this vague outline suggests a diverse play space with a good bit of verticality.

While the original Call of Duty: Warzone lacked swimming mechanics, Treyarch’s Call of Duty games have featured swimming in online play since Black Ops 3, so it would not be shocking to see it introduced to Warzone. If Henderson’s outline of the map proves accurate, swimming will also be a very necessary feature, as there is apparently “a lot of sea” in the Southern portion of the map. If the entrety of this watery area is accessible and features some landmarks throughout, it could add a fresh dynamic to matches, with players swimming from place to place and having final battles inside some bodies of water. Sea vehicles like boats are also a possibility.

With Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s full reveal supposedly imminent, details about Call of Duty: Warzone’s successor could be coming soon as well. Until official information is provided by Activision, though, fans can expect to see more leaks like this appearing online.

Call of Duty: Warzone 2 is in development for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X.
