Call of Duty: Vanguard Bringing Back Multiplayer Map from World War 2

Activision Blizzard confirms several details about Call of Duty: Vanguard Season 4, including the return of a multiplayer map from COD: WW2.

Many classic Call of Duty maps have returned over the years as the franchise continues to expand, and Call of Duty: Vanguard has gotten a few from other titles based in World War 2 like Call of Duty: World at War and WW2. Activision Blizzard has confirmed that another fan-favorite map is coming back with Call of Duty: Vanguard in Season 4: Mercenaries of Fortune.

Activision recently confirmed many details about Call of Duty: Vanguard Season 4 which will see the arrival of a popular Call of Duty: WW2 map. Mercenaries of Fortune will bring with it other Vanguard content like new weapons, game modes, operators, and bundles, as well as the restoration of round-based Zombies with Shi No Numa. Beyond the aforementioned WW2 map, Call of Duty: Vanguard multiplayer fans will also get access to a second map after the Mercenaries of Fortune mid-season update.

Call of Duty: WW2 was the fifth title in the franchise set in the Second World War, but many of the beloved multiplayer maps set in that era come from WW2 or Call of Duty: World at War, as previous titles lacked the console online functionality. Sledgehammer Games crafted several timeless maps with WW2 and the USS Texas battleship is returning in Call of Duty: Vanguard as USS Texas 1945. Because of the timing of Vanguard lining up with the setting of Call of Duty: WW2, much of USS Texas has been slightly altered in this remake, while some smaller details differ.

Activision has confirmed not only the return of USS Texas in Call of Duty: Vanguard, but the second multiplayer map of Season 4 has been revealed as Desolation. Desolation will offer a more open map than the tighter corridors of USS Texas 1945, with mountains and creeks surrounding the central building of a “devastated” village. Both Call of Duty: Vanguard and Warzone will see a new Battle Pass in Mercenaries of Fortune that will offer a string of cosmetics as players complete challenges and participate in matches.

Because Call of Duty: Vanguard and Call of Duty: WW2 are set in the same era, many fans that played the older title may be anticipating the return of USS Texas in Mercenaries of Fortune. USS Texas 1945 will be added to Call of Duty: Vanguard‘s multiplayer map rotation after the June 22 update is installed, leaving fans some time to explore the battleship before Desolation drops in the in-season patch. While many Call of Duty: Warzone players are praising the addition of Fortune’s Keep alongside Rebirth Island, and Zombies fans express enthusiasm over the return of round-based Zombies, some World War 2 players are excited for Vanguard to bring back the USS Texas.

Call of Duty: Vanguard is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
