Breath of the Wild Player Points Out Interesting Detail About Hinox Enemies

While exploring the wilds of Hyrule Kingdom, one player discovers a little-known detail about how the ogre-like Hinox attacks in Breath of the Wild.

Released in March of 2017 as a launch title for the Nintendo Switch, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was a massive success for Nintendo. Among the many aspects praised by fans was the open-world design. This innovative design choice allowed players to explore the vast wilderness of Hyrule and fight many unusual monsters. One of these creatures around the world was the Hinox.

Occupying many regions of Hyrule Kingdom, Hinox are ogre-like creatures with one eye. As one of the largest monsters in the game, they are typically found sleeping in open areas. While the giant beasts might seem placid, disturbing one of them is asking for trouble. Once awake, Hinox use their immense strength to throw deadly punches at attackers. In addition, they have been known to uproot trees and use them as weapons. Recently, one player made a fascinating discovery pertaining to these monsters.

GAMERANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

In a post on Reddit, a user known as Sloth-Cookie shared an intriguing detail they uncovered in Breath of the Wild. While exploring the vast wilderness of Hyrule Kingdom, they discovered that Hinox brandish tall pine trees as spears during battle. According to the Reddit user, this attack pattern was unique, as all other trees that the monsters uproot in the game are used as swords.

To illustrate the point, Sloth-Cookie posted a video of Link attacking a Ja’Abu Ridge Hinox. In the clip, the one-eyed giant was seen holding a large conifer. After taking a moment to size up its opponent, it thrust the large tree forward. The hulking creature then repeated the attack, clearly using the pine as a spear to attack Link. It followed these attacks with a long sweeping attack, narrowly missing its mark. After whiffing this attack, Link then finished the Hinox off with a Flurry Rush.

This interesting video shared by Sloth-Cookie piqued the interest of numerous members of the Breath of the Wild community on Reddit. With over 2,800 upvotes in only a day, many found this detail about the Hinox intriguing. One gamer even revealed that after playing the game for over 1,000 hours, they had never learned about this unusual trait of the hulking monster.

It is exciting to see fans continue to make unusual discoveries in the Hyrule Kingdom. Besides this intriguing Hinox detail, players recently learned about an impressive water effect in Breath of the Wild that makes ponds dry out over time. It will be interesting to see what other little-known secrets about the game fans uncover in the months ahead.
