The large amount of customization options that Nintendo’s Animal Crossing: New Horizons offers to its players often inspire them to create unique fan pieces that cross over with other franchises. This includes movies, animated series, and even other video game titles, such as the popular action-RPG Elden Ring. Recently, an ACNH player combined their love for the life sim with another popular RPG series, Final Fantasy 7. They recreated iconic game scenes on New Horizons to celebrate Tifa Lockhart’s birthday this May.
Fans of both Animal Crossing and Final Fantasy often create a lot of fan art that combine the two series together. Some place Animal Crossing: New Horizons special villagers like Isabelle in the Final Fantasy universe, while others dress up their villagers in character outfits from the FF video games. This shows that there seems to be no lack of love for both of the franchises, and that the gaming community seems to enjoy seeing both of them together.
To celebrate the birthday of Final Fantasy 7‘s Tifa Lockhart, Japanese Animal Crossing: New Horizons player with the Twitter handle namico_x created a short video that recreated the character’s beloved and humorous scenes in the life sim title. For those who are unfamiliar with Tifa Lockhart, the character’s official birthday in the game is May 3. The video showcased the artist’s villager dressed up as Tifa with a variety of scenes in the character’s popular 7th Heaven bar, and even the Sector 7 slums church. Other FF7 main characters such as Cloud Strife and Aerith Gainsborough even make cameos in the footage.
Though the video is less than a minute long, fans will likely appreciate how namico_x painstakingly reflected details from Final Fantasy 7 into Animal Crossing: New Horizons. They even shared how they aged Tifa’s 7th Heaven bar, from its Midgar city look to its Edge look in FF7: Advent Children. Fans will also likely appreciate namico_x’s version of Tifa’s water tower scene, and how they even made it feel more magical with the Animal Crossing: New Horizons shooting stars.
According to the artist’s Twitter profile, fellow Animal Crossing: New Horizons players can visit their island through their Dream Address. This means that they can actually step into these incredibly detailed Final Fantasy scenes and take some snapshots for themselves. Hopefully the artist keeps the scenes for a long time, as many FF7 fans will likely want to hop on over and check them out for themselves.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available now on the Nintendo Switch.
