The world of Pokemon is filled with many unusual pocket monsters that often feature unique designs. Sometimes the looks of these Pokemon take inspiration from real-world objects and wildlife. Several examples include the upcoming Pokemon Scarlet and Violet starter Quaxly, who looks like a duck, and Magnemite, who resembles a magnet. In addition, Spheal is another Pokemon that has a design based on a real-life animal.
As the name suggests, Spheal looks similar to a seal. It has a circular shape with short flippers on the sides of its body. While the Pokemon might resemble a seal, that did not stop one gamer from comparing it to another real-world object; one that is less apparent but much more appetizing.
Recently one gamer known as ariamisu on Reddit decided to mix Pokemon and ice cream in a piece of artwork they made, and they chose to feature Spheal from the Pokemon series in the image. While many gamers have made artwork starring this chubby seal-like creature, few have likely created an image transforming the pocket monster into different kinds of ice cream. However, that was exactly what this Reddit user did.
In the image, ariamisu showcased six different Spheal, all featuring a unique flavor. Adding to the appeal of the image was the fact that the Pokemon was conveniently shaped like a scoop of ice cream. Impressively, the artist managed to include redesigns for each Spheal corresponding to Neapolitan, pistachio, cookies n cream, razzberry sorbet, coffee, and even onion. The Pokemon fan gave each ice cream flavor a different selection of colors to help sell the look of each one. For example, the cookies n cream Spheal had a black underbelly with a predominantly white top side similar to the flavor it represented.
Since posting this artwork on Reddit, many Pokemon fans unsurprisingly were quick to offer suggestions for other flavors the artist should try to have Spheal represent. With over 2,900 upvotes in only a day, many gave possible ice cream flavors to try. “Must. Have. Pumpkin spice Spheal!” I-am-a-me said on Reddit. In addition, some other suggested flavors included salted caramel, cotton candy, and mint chocolate. Furthermore, ariamisu even revealed that their favorite flavor was coffee.
While this appetizing Spheal art is no doubt memorable to many fans, it is just one of the many pieces of Pokemon fan art on the internet. In fact, there is no shortage of creations starring Spheal. For instance, one gamer recently made an adorable Spheal animation in Blender that saw the pocket monster spinning around in a small body of water. Time will tell what other pieces of fan art starring the Pokemon will be shared with the community in the coming days.
